Glass Railings in Florida

Glass Railings in Florida, Engineered for the View and the Weather

Florida architecture is built around the view. Brisk Architectural designs, engineers, fabricates and installs frameless glass railings that keep those views open while meeting the demands of a coastal, hurricane-prone state. From our Florida office in Sarasota, we work with architects, general contractors and homeowners on balconies, terraces, stairs and pool decks in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Tampa, Orlando, Naples and beyond.

Why Florida Projects Choose a Brisk Glass Railing Contractor

  • Clear, post-free sightlines. Glass is held in a continuous shoe, track or discreet fittings, so nothing interrupts the view.
  • One accountable team. Brisk handles measuring, shop drawings, engineering, fabrication and installation, and our certified installers complete every job. Our work comes with a warranty.
  • Engineering on every project. Brisk provides engineering calculation packages for all projects, with signed and sealed calculations available for coastal sites.
  • Laminated safety glass options. If a ply breaks, the interlayer holds the glass together.
  • A system for every condition. Top-mounted, side-mounted, spigot, standoff and concealed-track railings let the design follow the architecture.

Glass Railing Systems for Florida Homes and Commercial Buildings

Choose a system by how the glass meets the structure:

Top-mounted base shoe

The M1 glass railing is our most popular top-mounted base shoe system, taking 1/2″ to 3/4″ tempered, laminated, tinted, smart or LED-lit glass. Around pools it can replace a traditional metal fence while keeping views open. The M12 top-mounted glass railing uses an anodized aluminum track that bolts to concrete, tile or wood, with LED lighting available in the bottom track or top handrail. For exposed locations, see the M10 base shoe railing below.

Side-mounted and fascia-mounted

The M4 side-mounted glass railing uses a two-part track fixed to the fascia, with glass loaded from the top and set at floor level for clear views from inside. Its thicker laminated glass is suited to oceanfront and high-wind areas. The M13 side-mounted glass railing anchors below the sightline with Brisk’s proprietary track, takes thick laminated safety glass for high-wind and high-rise applications, and accepts optional LED lighting.

Standoff, bracket and spigot

The M6 standoff glass railing takes glass from 1/2″ to 1″ on marine-grade hardware, ideal for balconies and glass staircases. The M8 standoff system uses dual-point anchors, and the M7 lateral bracket railing creates a floating-glass effect. The M9 spigot glass railing lifts the glass on stainless steel spigots with full drainage, a practical choice for Florida pool decks and patios.

Concealed track and stainless steel

On new construction, the M15 concealed track railing is set before the concrete is poured, so the railing appears to rise straight from the slab. The Inox stainless steel and glass railing pairs glass with round or square stainless steel balusters in satin or polished finish.

M10: Our Base Shoe Glass Railing Engineered for Hurricanes

When a project calls for hurricane glass railings, start with the M10 base shoe glass railing. The M10 is a heavy-duty, top-mount-only aluminum base shoe that clamps the glass along its full length. It uses one glass makeup only: 10+10 mm tempered laminated glass (21.52 mm), with a PVB or SentryGlas interlayer. Clear glass is standard and low-iron is available.

  • Project-specific engineering. M10 installations can be backed by signed and sealed calculations covering the glass, base shoe and anchorage for that site’s wind loads.
  • Proven in South Florida. At Frenchman’s Creek in Palm Beach Gardens, the M10 was engineered to the 2020 Florida Building Code and ASCE 7-16 for a 180 mph ultimate design wind speed (Risk Category III, Exposure C).
  • Independently tested. The M10 was tested to UNI 11678:2017, the European standard for fall-protection glass.
  • Precise alignment. Adjustable setting blocks and EPDM gaskets let installers plumb every panel.
  • Options. Guard height up to 1.1 m (about 43″), with an optional round aluminum or stainless steel handrail prepped for LED lighting.
  • Lead time. 8 weeks.

Finishes and Glass Options

The M10 base shoe is offered in three finishes: stainless steel anodized, clear anodized, or powder coat in any RAL color. Across the wider range, M12 aluminum can be anodized or powder coated, M7 brackets come in polished stainless steel, and Inox comes in satin or polished stainless steel. Glass options include clear, low-iron, tinted, frosted and smart glass.

Florida Case Study: Frenchman's Creek Clubhouse

For the new clubhouse at Frenchman’s Creek in Palm Beach Gardens, designed by Peacock + Lewis Architects and Planners for owner Frenchman’s Creek, Inc., general contractor Proctor Construction Company engaged Brisk to engineer, furnish and install the frameless glass guardrails. Brisk installed M10 railings with 42″ clear laminated glass across the balconies and exterior stairs, plus an M6 railing at the interior monument stair, in a stainless steel finish. The project was completed in January 2026. Read the full Frenchman’s Creek case study, or browse more commercial glass railing projects, including the Villanova University library.
